On May 17th at Book Expo in Chicago, Goodreads, the largest online site for readers and book recommendations announced Goodreads Deals, a new way for reader-members not to miss out on terrific deals on ebooks. According to the Hot Sheet published by Jane Freidman, “The emails go to Goodreads reader-members who are following a publisher (or author) as well as to reader-members who sign up to receive email notifications for a genre or category.” Goodreads is considering a subscription fee and has not yet announced the details. They are currently beta testing it starting with publishers for these four popular genres: Bestsellers, Romance, Mystery & Thrillers, and Fantasy & Science Fiction. Indie authors will be added later. It should be a wonderful means for ebook publishers and authors to reach a broader audience.
