Review of The Highwayman by Craig Johnson

I just finished reading The Highwayman, a novella by Wyoming author Craig Johnson. It’s a terrific story with the right mix of Native American legend, mystery, and a ghost story. What I liked about it most was the banter between Sheriff Walt Longmire and his Native American friend Henry Standing Bear that I got to love in the first of the Longmire series, The Cold Dish. Grab a blanket, cuddle up in your favorite chair and get ready to shiver as you sit with Walt and Henry at midnight in the Wind River Canyon waiting for the mysterious radio call “Officer in Need of Assistance” from a highway patrolman who has been dead for 30 years.
